A holarchy is a system of nested levels, where each unit, called a [[Holon]], is both a whole in itself and a part of a larger whole. Introduced by Arthur Koestler, the concept shows how everything from individuals to families, tribes, nations, species, ecosystems, and the biosphere are interlinked layers, each balancing self-assertion and integration. In a healthy holarchy, every level supports both individuality and connectedness, so that the well-being of the part and the whole naturally reinforce each other.
